Most snow in 50+ years in the Alps?
Have we just had the most snow in 50+ years?? The Alps have blown last years poor snowfall out the window with over 2m of snow falling over the last few days in resorts such as Val d’Isère, Tignes, The Three Valleys, Sestriere, Prali, Cervinia, Zermatt, Verbier and Saas-Fee.
The past few years in the European Alps have been pretty bare to say the least. For example, those who went away for Christmas 2016 in resorts like Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Verbier etc, had many lifts shut throughout the week and didn't get a decent snowfall until the end of January. This season however, it couldn't be more different! With brilliant snow throughout December and an enormous amount falling just last week, this winter is looking to be one of the best in many years.

Be aware though, we have been blessed with these conditions, however the off-piste still isn't safe. With avalanche ratings going up to 5/5 last week in many resorts, towns on lock down due to the risk of avalanches sliding into town.
So get your avi kit on and hit those trees and let this be a year to remember!
