Most snow in 50+ years in the Alps?

Have we just had the most snow in 50+ years?? The Alps have blown last years poor snowfall out the window with over 2m of snow falling over the last few days in resorts such as Val d’Isère, Tignes, The Three Valleys, Sestriere, Prali, Cervinia, Zermatt, Verbier and Saas-Fee.

The past few years in the European Alps have been pretty bare to say the least. For example, those who went away for Christmas 2016 in resorts like Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Verbier etc, had many lifts shut throughout the week and didn't get a decent snowfall until the end of January. This season however, it couldn't be more different! With brilliant snow throughout December and an enormous amount falling just last week, this winter is looking to be one of the best in many years.

Photo from Radio Val d'Isere Facebook page.

Be aware though, we have been blessed with these conditions, however the off-piste still isn't safe. With avalanche ratings going up to 5/5 last week in many resorts, towns on lock down due to the risk of avalanches sliding into town.

So get your avi kit on and hit those trees and let this be a year to remember!

    Mojo and Varsity Trip

For the second year in a row, we've teamed up with the guys at Varsity Trip kitting them up with fresh jackets for their trip out to Val Thorens.

After the fun, retro style onesies we kitted them out in last year, they decided to go a little more low key this year with the jackets for both committee and the college reps.

Varsity Trip is the world’s oldest and largest university ski trip with a tradition that dates back to the 1921/1922 season. Taking nearly 3000 students away each trip. It serves as the venue for the prestigious Blues races, the Varsity competition in skiing for the Oxford and Cambridge Ski Clubs, as well as the more light-hearted Cuppers event.

Alongside the skiing, Varsity Trip hosts a packed timetable of mid-week events: from daily après sessions to mountain meals and comedy nights, guaranteeing there is something for everyone.
